Oil Painting Workshop

Service Description

Learn to oil paint using techniques and supplies that have been around since the early renaissance. Instructor and master painter Amy Cunningham will lead the group in a 4-week course that starts with art history and basic techniques and ends with a class art show/potluck in the Calico Moose studio. Session 1: Bring your supplies or purchase a painting kit through the Calico Moose. Come to class with a photo or drawing that you would like to use as your subject for the painting. Receive an introduction to classical styles of painting and the tools and materials you will be using throughout the process. Students will start their paintings in class and continue to work on them at home, bringing them back to class each week. Sessions 2 & 3: In-class workday. We will start with a 10-15min Discussion to work through any questions or concerns that come up through your at home sessions. Students will then continue working on their paintings while being instructed one on one throughout the class. Session 4: Students will add finishing touches and participate in a unified art show/critique with fellow classmates. This will be a potluck so bring a dish to share! Painting kits can be purchased on your own or through the Calico Moose for an additional $64.50. If you plan on purchasing your kit through the store, please make a note in your booking so that we can order it. This course will be canceled if the minimum of 5 participants is not met.

Cancellation Policy

Effective 4/20/23: For a full refund, cancellations must be made at least 3 days prior to the day of the event. A 50% refund will be given for a 48 hour notice. No refunds will be given past 24 hours, however you may redeem 50% of fees towards another class of choice.
